A sheriff's deputy was injured Thursday when his car struck a parked car that was on fire.
Frank Gigliotti, 36, of Niagara Falls, was admitted to Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.
He was listed in stable condition with a head injury.
Deputy Michael Messina said Gigliotti was on his way to work, driving east on Lockport Road near Nash Road shortly before 7 a.m. when the collision occurred.
Deputies said he was unable to see the car because of the smoke pouring from it.
The owner of the car, Sam M. Cole Jr., 18, of 6271 Nash Road was not in the car.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and two traffic violations: having a faulty tire and parking a vehicle illegally on the roadway.
Deputies said that after a tire on Cole's car went flat in Niagara Falls, he drove for more than 8 miles, causing the car to overheat and burst into flames.
