D'Youville College will offer a new, state-mandated course in the spring designed to teach various health-care professionals how to identify and report child abuse.
State law now requires all physicians, chiropractors, dentists, registered nurses, podiatrists, optometrists, psychologists and dental hygienists to complete the two-hour course prior to renewal of their professional licenses, registration or limited permits.
The training will include information relating to the physical and behavioral indicators of child abuse and maltreatment, as well as statutory reporting requirements. There is a $25 fee to attend. To register, contact D'Youville's Office of Continuing Education.
