The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department is offering a reward in the Rebecca Nicholson murder case.
The Westfield woman, 49, was found dead Thursday in her Prospect Road home by her brother, William Lynch, who also lived in the house. An autopsy showed she was shot once in the chest with a small-caliber weapon, the bullet striking her heart.
The department did not reveal the size of the reward, but Sheriff John R. Bentley said, "We will discuss the amount and where it is coming from with anyone who feels they have information that might be valuable to us."
Ms. Nicholson, who had a grown daughter, was a secretary at an Erie, Pa., hospital, and at the time of her death was a resident consultant at the Cassadaga Job Corps Center.
