U.S. DEFENDS THE RICH

I understand that "Operation Desert Shield" will have cost $50 billion by the end of February. President Bush once said that we had "more will than wallet," and therefore, cannot afford to house our homeless, feed our hungry children, restore our schools, clean up our poisoned environment, fix our crumbling infrastructure, and alleviate many of the ills which are plaguing our country.

But we can defend Middle East monarchies and safeguard oil industry profits. Isn't it amazing how our government can always find the money to ensure that the rich and powerful stay that way?
