Blues guitarist Joanna Connor and her band will pay a return visit to Nietzsche's, 248 Allen St., for three sets from 11 p.m. Friday.

Jazz organist Charles Earland will play three sets from 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Blue Note, 1677 Main St. Joining Earland will be tenor saxophonist John "Spider" Martin and his son, drummer Darryl "Pookie" Martin, plus guitarist Greg Millar.

The local rock group, Beat City, will take the stage at 10 p.m. Wednesday in the Marquee at the Tralf, 100 Theater Place. Proceeds will benefit Benedict House.

Chet Catallo, former Sypro Gyra guitarist, with his band, the Cats, will present a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan at 9 p.m. Thursday in the Marquee.

Beat City, local alternative pop rockers featuring Kathy Moriarty, Jim Capik, Rodney Chamberlain, Scott Freilich and Susan Kincaid, will play at 10 p.m. Friday in the Marquee.

Sonny Rhodes, Texas blues guitarist, will play at 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the Blue Note.

Joe Beard and the Blues Union will take the stage at 11 p.m. Saturday in Marshall's, 1678 Main St.

The Wild Knights will play a Grateful Dead tribute at 10 p.m. Saturday in the Marquee.

Marshall's will pay tribute to Marty Borotin, its "rock 'n' roll chef," with a birthday celebration at 10 p.m. Wednesday in the club. Several of Borotin's musical friends are expected. All well-wishers are invited to bring a vegetarian dish to the potluck affair.

Dry Bones will celebrate its second anniversary at 10 p.m. Tuesday in Marshall's.

The Pine Dogs, Beat City, the Fibs and Smoke and Mirrors will play from 9 p.m. Wednesday in Nietzsche's, 248 Allen St.

New concerts announced last week include Matt Guitar Murphy, with Dr. Z and the Blues Remedy, Jan. 19, Major Handy and the Wolf Couchon Band, Jan. 24, and Lucky 7, Jan. 26 in the Lafayette Tap Room, 391 Washington; Asleep at the Wheel, Jan. 30 in the Marquee at the Tralf; jazz pianist Monty Alexander and the Eastman New Jazz Ensemble, Jan. 26 in the Nazareth Arts Center, Rochester.

Also coming up: Duos Two, Dec. 27 in the Marquee at the Tralf; Blues Rockers Reunion, Dec. 28 in Marshall's; the Great Train Robbery, Dec. 28 and Gamalon, Dec. 29 in the Marquee; Johnny Gill plus Bell Biv Devoe and Keith Sweat, Dec. 30 in Memorial Auditorium.
