As a student at the venerable institution, the University of Miami, it was with amusement that I read the pitiable letters from disappointed Notre Dame fans crying about their lack of ranking by the national media voters.
The fact is that real No. 1 teams do not lose at home twice in a season, especially to "powerhouse" teams like Stanford. We lost fair and square by nine points on the road at South Bend and we will not gripe about that.
For all this mindless chatter about high and mighty Notre Dame, it is interesting that the big bad Irish are scared to schedule the Hurricanes again. We in the family of the University of Miami would love to continue the rivalry without fear or favor, asking for no quarter and giving none. It is too bad that Notre Dame cannot say the same.
