"I'm shocked," said David Miller of Arcade when The Buffalo News phoned him at work to tell him he had won first prize in SUPER JINGO Game 448 -- a trip for two to Orlando and Universal Studios Florida, plus $500 spending money.
"My wife and I have been playing faithfully from the start," he said. "Isn't this something?"
He and his wife, Claudia, will enjoy four nights and five days in Orlando. Their trip includes round-trip air fare on USAir, hotel accommodations, a visit to Universal Studios Florida and $500 cash.
They will stay at the Delta Orlando Resort in the heart of Orlando and enjoy its many attractions.
Set on 25 lush and beautiful acres, the resort features three outdoor swimming pools, three hot tubs, two kiddie pools, two lighted tennis courts, two saunas, a sand volleyball court, nine-hole mini golf, a chipping range, children's playground and Wally's Kids Club, a supervised activity center for children.
Universal Studios Florida features a fantasy of lights, camera, action. Universal brings Hollywood to Orlando in the 444-acre studios, offering everything from a flight with "E.T." to a terrifying encounter with "King Kong."
Flight arrangements are courtesy of USAir, which flies to more than 168 cities throughout the United States and Canada. USAir also travels to Bermuda, London and Frankfurt, Germany.
Other top prize winners include:
Delia Tee of South Wales, a weekend for two in Toronto.
Bernice Musilowski of Niagara Falls, a 20-inch color TV.
Patricia A. Hardy of Buffalo, a weekend for two at La Tourelle, a country inn in Ithaca.
Irene Kubera of Depew, $200 cash.
Mrs. Tee was enthusiastic when she learned she had won second prize. "No way! How wonderful," she said. "This is fabulous!"
She said she and her husband, Steven, always hear about couples who win a getaway weekend and think about how great it would be for them to win.
"I hope we can see a Broadway show while we're up there," she said.
"How lucky I am," said Mrs. Musilowski. "I could use another TV set for my bedroom."
She said she has been playing SUPER JINGO since the start and won a small cash prize in one of the early games. She reads The News every day.
"This is just great," Ms. Hardy said on hearing about her weekend for two at La Tourelle.
She also has played SUPER JINGO since the beginning and won theater tickets in the past.
Ms. Kubera said the $200 will come in handy for Christmas. "This is the first time in my life that I've won anything," she said.
In addition to these five winners, 95 other Western New Yorkers have been selected for a prize. If your name appears in today's winning lineup, it is not necessary to phone or visit The News. Your prize will be mailed to you.
