The HongkongBank Group has named Dr. Lacy J. Hunt its chief economist in the United States. He will direct economic research for the group's affiliated companies, including Marine Midland Bank and Carroll McEntee & McGinley Inc. Hunt previously was managing director of CM & M and will continue to serve as president of CM & M Asset Management Co. Inc.

The American Supply Association, the national association of full-service plumbing, heating, cooling and piping wholesalers, has elected William Barto to the executive council of its Industrial Piping Division. He is executive vice president of Robert-James Sales, a Buffalo-headquartered distributor and manufacturer of stainless steel pipes, vales and fittings.

The American Society for Training and Development, Niagara Frontier Chapter, has elected Jo A. Yudess of Graphic Controls Corp. president. Vice presidents are: in charge of communications, Dennis F. Piwowarczyk; in charge of finance, Daniel J. O'Brien; in charge of programming, Clarence Stafford, and in charge of membership, Lynne Downes.

Tavco Marketing & Media, 4700 Genesee St., Cheektowaga, has named Jennifer Taverna communications coordinator. She also will continue her duties as assistant media buyer. Ms. Taverna attends Buffalo State College. She lives in Cheektowaga.

Tops Markets Inc. has promoted Terrie Chryniewicz to manager of the Wilson Farms Neighborhood Convenience store at 537 Potter Road in West Seneca. She previously was an assistant manager.

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions has appointed Dale W. Van Voorhis to its board of directors. He is president and chief executive officer of Funtime Inc., parent company for Darien Lake Theme Park and Camping Resort in Darien Center, and Geauga Lake and Wyandot Lake, both of Ohio.

The Association of North American Directory Publishers has presented its "Top Achievement Award" to Richard D. Lewis, chief executive officer of the Buffalo-based White Directory Publishers Inc. Lewis was honored for "his efforts in organizing and spearheading the ANADP's lobbying efforts in Washington relating to the Telecommunications Policy Act of 1990."

SPS Home Care Inc., 220 Delaware Ave., has promoted Ronald E. Carrick to the newly-created position of community relations specialist. He formerly was a staff recruiter. He lives in Tonawanda.

Avid Productions Inc., a video production facility at 82 Pearl St., has appointed Andrew S. Donovan operations manager. He has worked in the company's production department since 1987 in various positions including as an editor, cameraman, and as one of the firm's directors for BisonVision, the closed circuit television system at Pilot Field.
