A young man was found dead in his apartment at 208 Fox St. late this morning, an apparent homicide victim, police said.
Assistant Homicide Chief Gregory Simonian said the body was discovered around 11 a.m. by a neighbor who had entered the house to "retrieve some things."
"He had apparently been stabbed, but we'll know for certain after the post-mortem," Simonian said.
No identification had yet been made, he added.
Neighbors said the victim had lived in the rear apartment for only about two months. No one interviewed today was aware of any problems in the small frame house. But all indicated they did not know him well.
Simonian said it appeared the victim had been dead "for a while," adding the investigation will center on whether anything was taken from the house.
Fox Street runs north and south between Broadway and Best Street on the city's East Side.
