FALLS BOY, 13, IS DENIED YOUTHFUL OFFENDER STATUS

A 13-year-old Niagara Falls boy who pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in a May 6 shooting near a Niagara Falls tavern, was denied youthful offender status by Niagara County Judge Aldo L. DiFlorio Thursday and ordered to serve a term under the jurisdiction of the state Department of
Corrections.

Andre Wilkes of 24 A Centre Court must serve 16 months to four years. He also was ordered to pay a $102 penalty assessment.

He was accused of shooting Wilber "Buddy" Hayes several times in the right leg and back.
