HINDU RELIGIOUS SYMBOL STOLEN AT UB NORTH CAMPUS

A Hindu religious symbol, set up for the first time near a Christmas tree and menorah on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo, was stolen from its wooden base, UB officials said Wednesday.

UB security officers said they have no leads, and there were apparently no witnesses to the theft, which occurred last Friday or Thursday night in Capen Hall. Swami Pasupapi, who teaches in UB's religious studies department, said the foot-high symbol was a gift from a California Hindu.
