Hooray for Douglas Turner's column in the Dec. 3 Viewpoints section entitled, "Are We Ready For Another Pearl Harbor?"
I, too, am sick and tired of the "selling of America" to Japan.
We subsidize their defense and allow them practically unlimited sale of their products in this country, while they take the profits and buy America.
I believe the problem basically is two-pronged. Our government leaders have allowed this to happen by not insisting on equal trade restrictions and not installing trade barriers to Japan equal to the trade barriers against our products over there.
The second prong is the American people, who, looking for a bargain, are prone to buying Japanese products. This practice has caused American companies to lose profits which in turn has caused layoffs, plant closings, and a slowdown of our economy.
