An Institute for Public Leadership training seminar will be held in Buffalo in March.
The seminar is an extensive training program for prospective political candidates and campaign staff, and includes issue advocacy for those interested in non-candidate campaigns. It is sponsored by the YWCA of the U.S.A. and the YWCA Institute for Public Leadership.
Nationally known trainers from the Democratic and Republican parties will attend. A panel of local elected women will highlight their experiences in politics at the grass-roots level.
"We're excited about the workshop here, particularly when it's so important that women get more involved politically in order to make themselves heard on the issues," said Marilyn Zahm, immediate past president and co-chair of the event with Sheila Weir.
The March 15-16 seminar will be held at the Downtown YWCA, where further information and registration materials can be obtained. Registration will be limited to the first 50 applicants.
