RACCOON DROPS IN AT CLARENCE HOME

State police at Clarence were scratching their heads today, trying to figure out a Tuesday night house burglary -- by a large raccoon.

Called to the Placey home on Greiner Road to investigate an animal problem, Trooper Bruce Bell filed this report:

"Upon arriving at the home, observed a very large raccoon had established a temporary residence in the ceiling. Due to the weight of the raccoon, the ceiling collapsed."

Lyle Dietzman, the Clarence dog warden, went to the scene and "established a rapport" with the furry suspect, apprehended him and took him to an open field, police said.
