NORTH TONAWANDA TEEN DIES IN WILLIAMSVILLE CAR CRASH

An 18-year-old North Tonawanda man was killed early this morning when the car he was riding in crashed into a pole and burst into flames on Main Street in Williamsville, Amherst police said.

Timothy Schumacher of 503 Euclid Ave. was pronounced dead at the scene following the 1:26 a.m. crash, Lt. R. Richard Langenfeld said.

The driver, Christopher Fink, 16, of 26 Geneva St., North Tonawanda, was listed in stable condition today in Erie County Medical Center. Police said he suffered multiple lacerations and possible spinal and neurological injuries.

Officers charged Fink with driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and failure to keep right.

Langenfeld said that the Fink car, westbound on Main at Hirschfield Drive, crossed the center line and smashed into a signal pole before bursting into flames.
