Services for Herman H. Strauss, 83, a retired bank executive, were held today in Delaware Park Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Forest Lawn.
Strauss died Sunday (Dec. 9, 1990) in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Buffalo, he worked for Marine Midland Bank and its predecessor, Marine Trust Co., for 49 years, rising to vice president. He spent most of his career in the bank's Rand Building branch office before retiring in 1972.
Strauss graduated from Hutchinson Central High School and the American Institute of Banking and attended the University of Buffalo. He was a past secretary of Montefiore Lodge 70, B'nai B'rith, and a member of the Montefiore Club, the Jewish Center, the Rosa Coplon Jewish Home and Temple Beth Zion, where he was a former board member of the Brotherhood.
His wife of 41 years, Esther Goldstein Strauss, died in 1972.
Surviving are a son, James M., and four sisters, Evelyn Rieger, Beatrice Presser, Dorothy and Marion Strauss.
