A 17-year-old youth was shot to death early Saturday, apparently over the black leather jacket he was wearing as he left a party in Brooklyn, police said.
Rashid Smith was shot five times in the torso and legs by an unknown number of persons at 3:15 a.m., after leaving a party in a basement in Brooklyn's East New York area, said Sgt. Norris Hollomon, a police spokesman.
Smith of Brooklyn died on a nearby corner, he said.
His "Stop 8" black leather baseball starter jacket was missing, leading police to believe that he was shot dead during the robbery of his jacket, said Sgt. Mary Wrensen, a police spokeswoman.
