BENGALS' BOYES NETS COACH OF YEAR

Buffalo State football coach Jerry Boyes was named Coach of the Year in the 16-team Upstate New York Division III football conference.

After winning just four games in four years, Boyes, in his fifth season, guided the Bengals to a college-best 7-2 record. The Bengals, picked 15th in the conference in preseason, were ranked fourth at the end of the season.

"It is a tribute to a fine coaching staff and an outstanding group of young men who sacrificed and dedicated themselves to achieve success this season," Boyes said.
