AREA SEWAGE PLANTS GET STATE AID

Sewage treatment plants in Amherst, Grand Island and Pomfret will receive low-interest loans from the state, Gov. Cuomo has announced.

The state Water Pollution Control Revolving Fund program will finance a $5.5 million loan to the Town of Amherst to improve odor control and sludge handling at the town's sewage treatment plant.

A $1.3 million loan also will be given to Grand Island for various plant improvements, while $440,000 will be loaned to the Town of Pomfret in Chautauqua County to refinance improvements at the Lily Dale Assembly sewage treatment plant.

They were among seven loans approved by the state's revolving fund.
