The University at Buffalo survived a scare from local rival Daemen Friday night to advance to tonight's championship game at 8 against Mercyhurst in the second annual Shooters Roundup Classic at UB's Alumni Arena.
Ricky Coleman's 10 points sparked a 26-6 UB run midway through the second half to overcome a 41-34 halftime deficit as the Bulls defeated Warriors, 77-70. Mercyhurst beat St. Thomas (Fla.), 101-90, in the first game.
Coleman scored 19 points, Dean Schott had 15, Marlon Mills had 14 and added a game-high 10 rebounds. Rob Middlebrooks returned from an injury to score 13 for the Bulls (4-2).
For Daemen (3-7), Rob Robinson (Emerson) had 23 and Russell John added 19 with 11 rebounds.
The UB offense came together in the second half on 55 percent shooting.
