"Spatial Depth and Spastic Death," black-and-white films by Rochester filmmaker Carl Wiedemann, will be screened from 8 p.m. Thursday in the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society Museum, 25 Nottingham Court. The program is curated by Eric Jensen for CEPA Gallery.

The Hallwalls program "Beyond the Bleach: A Video Cycle" will continue with a program from noon to 1:30 p.m. today in the East Ferry-Moselle Laundromat, 1057 E. Ferry St. The program will include tapes by James Duesing, David Shulman, Homer Jackson and others.

Commercial openings scheduled for Friday in area theaters include "Mermaids," PG, Cher and Winona Ryder in comedy directed by Richard Benjamin; "Havana," R, Robert Redford and Lena Olin in new drama directed by Sydney Pollack; "Look Who's Talking Too," PG, more from the talking babies.
