Abortion and AIDS activists plan to reprise their 1989 demonstration at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Sunday to protest the church's policy towards gays and abortion rights, group members said Friday.

The protest comes a year after six members were arrested in a similar demonstration.

The groups, ACT-UP and Wham!, say Cardinal John J. O'Connor and the Catholic Archdiocese are obstructing the dissemination of information about safe sex and advocating "hatred and violence" against homosexuals and abortion-rights supporters.

The groups said they were planning "forms of disobedience, religious dissension (sic) and personal prayers of protest" during the 10:15 a.m. Mass while "hundreds of demonstrators" picket outside.
