Warren SanGeorge's 17-footer with 3 seconds remaining gave host O'Hara an 80-78 non-league basketball victory over Roy-Hart Wednesday night in Tonawanda.
The Rams' Brandon Harrington had tied the score with a three-point field goal with 15 seconds remaining. SanGeorge finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Roy-Hart led, 43-33, at the half, but Tom Hennessy scored eight of his 16 points in the third quarter as the Hawks outscored the Rams, 24-17, to cut their deficit to 3. Brian Smith opened the fourth quarter with two three-pointers to put the Hawks ahead.
Elsewhere, Eric Eberz had 21 points, 20 rebounds and four blocks as he led St. Joe's to a 78-66 season-opening victory over visiting East Aurora. Paul Mitri added 16 points and Aaron Calhoun 15 for St. Joe's. Joe Wright had 15 and Eric Hauser 14 for the Blue Devils (0-3).
Turner/Carroll, led by Damone James with 27 points and Kevin Sanford with 23, ripped Emerson, 94-71. James also had six assists and five rebounds while Sanford led the rebounding with 11. Mike Hairston and Terrence East had 21 points each for Emerson.
Niagara-Wheatfield took an early 10-2 lead, then outscored Starpoint, 21-9, in the third quarter en route to a 54-18 rout of the Spartans. Travis Kilgour scored 14 for N-W.
