LUCY DAWIDOWICZ DIES; SCHOLAR ON HOLOCAUST

Lucy S. Dawidowicz, whose book "The War Against the Jews" was considered a landmark study of Nazi genocide, died Wednesday at the age of 75.

Mrs. Dawidowicz was a key figure in the study of the modern Jewish experience at Yeshiva University, where she held a chair in interdisciplinary Holocaust studies.

The daughter of Polish immigrants, she went to Europe after World War IIand helped Jewish survivors of the war rebuild schools and libraries. She also recovered vast collections of books seized by Nazis.
