LOCKPORT TOWN BOARD TO USE $500,000 TO CUT COUNTY LEVY

Residents received an early Christmas gift Wednesday as Town of Lockport officials approved turning over $500,000 to the county treasurer's office to reduce the 1991 county tax levy for town property owners.

Supervisor Floyd D. Snyder said that the $500,000 contribution would lower the county tax rate to $6.99 per $1,000 assessed valuation, from $8.51.

In other business, the board

Approved a $15,300 contract with Dr. Ralph Lewis, a veterinarian, for dog control services in 1991.

Decided to contract with Downing Containers for refuse collection during 1991 as recommended by the county Solid Waste Management Consortium.

Scheduled public hearings for 8 p.m. Jan. 2 on proposed expansions of both the Village and Leisure Acres mobile home parks.
