Hamlin Park residents will take the first step in redefining their neighborhood as the first residential historic preservation district east of Main Street at 10 a.m. Saturday when representatives of the Preservation Coalition of Erie County hold a workshop at 70 Harvard Place. The workshop will focus on how residents can gather and preserve data necessary to substantiate the neighborhood's architectural and historic significance.
Residents are concerned about Canisius College's program of buying property in the area for student housing.
The neighborhood is bounded by Humboldt Parkway, Main Street, Jefferson Avenue and East Utica Street. The meeting is sponsored by the Hamlin Taxpayers Association.
