A 3-year-old Flatbush boy, reportedly the youngest gun-toting child in the city's history, was placed with child welfare officials after a nursery school teacher found a loaded gun in the child's jacket, police said.
The child, who was not identified because of his age, told police Wednesday he found the gun in his father's car and brought it to school to show his friends. Police later learned the gun belonged to Lloyd Flowers, 27, when Flowers showed up to claim the weapon.
Flowers, a close friend of the family, said the child took the gun off the passenger seat of his van when he drove him to school that morning. Police charged Flowers with criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the life of a child.
Officials at the city Bureau of Child Welfare will determine if the boy should be returned to his parents.
