DON W. GILBERT, CLERK FOR RAILWAY EXPRESS

Services for Don W. Gilbert, 82, a longtime employee of Railway Express, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1080 Main St. Burial will be in Holy Rest Cemetery, Cheektowaga.

Gilbert died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 1990) in Buffalo General Hospital.

Born in Atwater, Ohio, Gilbert was a Railway Express clerk for 35 years. He was president of the Railway Express Retirement Association. Gilbert was active in School 63 and the Bennett High School PTA and in the Cub Scouts.

He was a Republican committeeman in the University District and a longtime deacon at Holy Trinity.

Gilbert, who was an all-star football player at Ravenna High School in Ohio, also was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Strathman Gilbert; two sons, William of Elma and Don A. of Amherst; a brother, Jay of Ohio, and four grandchildren.
