A gunman walked into the Norstar Bank on Walden Avenue this morning, threatened a teller and ran out with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
The robber may have been carrying a sawed-off shotgun when he entered the branch at 637 Walden Avenue near Brinkman Avenue about 9:45 a.m., said Lt. George Gasper of the robbery squad.
No one was injured.
The gunman told the teller to hand over the money, and she complied, giving him cash that he placed in a bag or some other container, Gasper said. Police said only one customer was in the bank at the time.
The robber then ran out a side door onto Brinkman, hiding the gun under his coat, Gasper said. Broadway Station officers and other police units responded to the robbery, searching the neighborhood. However, no trace of the suspect was found, Gasper said.
