6 STUDENTS SLIGHTLY HURT IN LOCKPORT BUS ACCIDENT

A combination of blowing snow and falling temperatures created dangerous road conditions Tuesday, leading to a Town of Lockport accident. Six students were slightly injured about 3:30 p.m. when a mini school bus skidded off an icy road, hit a fire hydrant and flipped.

The bus was going north on Campbell Boulevard (Route 270) when the driver, Patricia Erway of Albion, lost control as she tried to avoid being hit by a car, according to Niagara County Sheriff's Deputy Louis Faery. She was not injured.

The children suffered minor bruises, and one had a cut chin, according to attendants at Lockport Memorial Hospital, where they were treated.

Faery said the children were en route home to Albion, Millville and Lyndonville from different BOCES schools in the Lockport area. He said no charges were filed.
