The Town of Tonawanda would accept an offer to plow county roads in the town for $1,250 per lane mile, Supervisor Ronald H. Moline said Monday.
The Town Board Monday was scheduled to take action on a resolution ending its 1991 snowplowing contract with the county if the town's reimbursement rate was not increased to $1,500 per lane mile before Jan. 1.
Moline said the recommendation to accept a $1,250 figure was made by Town Highway Superintendent John G. Hedges. County Executive Gorski originally proposed a reimbursement rate of $1,175 per lane mile, but Moline said the County Legislature is expected to approve a final budget with the $1,250 rate. "We are hopeful the county executive will see fit to increase that" for 1992, he said.
More than 20 other municipalities in the county have approved a resolution to break their contracts with the county if the reimbursement rate to towns plowing county roads was not raised to $1,500 per lane mile.
