COUNCIL PANEL DELAYS ACTION ON PAYING ELECTIONS BOARD

The Common Council Finance Committee today decided to postpone consideration of a request by the Griffin administration to hold off a $69,000 payment to the Erie County Board of Elections.

City Budget Director Thomas F. Keenan said the administration believes the city does not owe the Elections Board for the 1989 School Board election. He said the county is trying to bill the city for staff time that should be part of the regular budget.

Keenan also said the city believes the county is improperly keeping more than $600,000 in bed-tax revenues. He said the city believes the county should apply the money towards the operating deficit of the Buffalo Convention Center and reduce the subsidy paid by the city.
