The apparent low bid for construction of a science complex on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo came in under estimates.
The bid of $44.9 million was submitted by a joint venture of Frank L. Ciminelli Construction Co. of Buffalo and Waldrich Construction of Detroit.
"Once the bid is approved, the science complex will represent the largest single contract ever awarded by the State University Construction Fund," UB President Steven B. Sample said.
The state had estimated the contract would cost $52 million. Seven bids were received.
Construction is to begin early next year, with completion by 1995. The new complex will be located on the western end of the series of academic buildings.
