SIMONE COUSTEAU, 71, DIES

Underwater diver Simone Cousteau, the wife of sea explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau, died of an undisclosed illness Sunday, friends said today. She was 71.

Mrs. Cousteau was involved in her husband's expeditions around the world aboard his vessel, the Calypso, for 40 years.

Their two sons also took part in underwater explorations and ecological campaigns.
