Country music superstar Willie Nelson might be singing the blues after he hears how much has been raised to help him pay his $16.7 million tax bill.
Only $288 has come in with less than two weeks to go before the scheduled auction of Nelson's assets, said a barber who is organizing the drive. Another group has raised $1,000 andplans to hold a fund-raising dance and celebrity auction tonight at the Broken Spoke, an Austin nightclub.
The club's owner, James White, said the dance will feature Texas bands and a celebrity auction, including items from Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
The Internal Revenue Service seized properties owned by Nelson in Texas and at least three other states Nov. 9 after the entertainer failed to pay millions in back taxes.
