The state Department of Environmental Conservation has scheduled information meetings this week on Grand Island and in Lockport to explain proposed changes in wetlands regulations.
Developers in Erie and Niagara counties say the changes would severely restrict residential and commercial construction.
Questions will be answered at the meetings, but no testimony will be accepted, said Conservation Commissioner Thomas C. Jorling.
The meetings are scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Casino in Beaver Island State Park, Grand Island, and 10 a.m. to noon, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the Niagara County Farm and Home Center, 4487 Lake Ave., Town of Lockport.
Testimony on the proposed changes will be accepted at the 1 and 7 p.m. hearings on Dec. 18 at the Niagara County Farm and Home Center. The conservation department will accept written comments until Jan. 18.
