COFFEE CLEARED IN HEART DISEASE

A study of 6,200 men and women has uncovered no evidence that drinking coffee leads to heart disease, researchers reported last week. "Coffee intake was not associated with cardiovascular disease in either smokers or non-smokers, irrespective of sex," said the report in Archives of Internal Medicine.

The findings came from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute's long-range study of people in Framingham, Mass.
