ARSON RULED IN $50,000 FIRE AT 2 BROADWAY BUILDINGS

Fire investigators have determined that arson was the cause of a fire that resulted in about $50,000 in damage to two vacant buildings at 687 and 691 Broadway about 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

The fire started at the rear of 691 Broadway, which once housed a curio shop, and spread to 687, the former God's Holy Temple, investigators said.

Firefighters Kenneth Fisher of Ladder 5 and Conde Peoples of Ladder 6 both suffered back injuries but were treated at the scene and remained on duty.
