A proposed $9.7 million budget for 1989-90 is expected to be approved by the Cheektowaga-Sloan Board of Education tonight after a hearing at 7 p.m. in the Woodrow Wilson School.
The tentative property-tax rate would be $17.61 per $1,000 of assessed valuation in the Cheektowaga portion of the district, an increase of $1.94, or 12.4 percent. In the district's West Seneca portion, the tax rate would be $18.53, a rise of $2.23, or 13.7 percent.
Negotiated salary increases for district employees account for half the increase, officials said.
District residents will vote on the budget from noon to 8 p.m. June 14 in the district's four school buildings.
