DEER CAUSES MOTORCYCLIST'S DEATH

A Kill Buck man was killed Friday night when a deer bolted onto the highway and into the path of his motorcycle, Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies said.

Thomas Jacobson, 25, was traveling east at 8:55 p.m. on the Southern Tier Expressway a little more than a mile east of Exit 16, when a deer ran onto the highway, deputies said. The impact killed the deer and threw Jacobson 159 feet, and his motorcycle continued for 579 feet before it hit a guardrail, deputies said.

Jacobson was pronounced dead at the scene.
