Robert W. Wainwright, 28, of 8729 Barber Road, Westfield, was fatally injured Friday when he fell off the back of a garbage truck and was run over by the truck, Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies said.
Wainright was pronounced dead on arrival at WCA Hospital in Jamestown. He suffered massive internal injuries, according to Coroner John Sixbey.
Wainwright was working at about 9:45 a.m. at the rear of the truck owned by Lloyd's Garbage Service and driven by his cousin, Norman L. Wainwright, 22, of 28 Washington St., Westfield, deputies said. Robert Wainright fell from the vehicle as it was backing up and his cousin apparently did not see him, deputies said.
An autopsy failed to reveal any medical cause for the victim's fall, Coroner Sixbey said, although he had been complaining of dizzy spells. Norman Wainwright was issued tickets for driving an uninspected vehicle, driving over the weight limit, driving out of class, and driving a vehicle with unsafe tires.
