The Erie County medical examiner's office said today it will examine a jawbone found in the back yard of an Oakmont Avenue home to ascertain if it's human.
The bone was uncovered in the back yard of 313 Oakmont Ave. by some boys who were digging. Homicide detective were alerted to the finding shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday.
Detectives said they will not undertake a digging search for other possible bones unless the medical examiner's office finds the bone is human.
The medical examiner's office said other cases take precedence over this one and it could be next week before further examination and forensic testing on the bone is conducted.
