Despite being limited to two lanes until June 23, officials at the Peace Bridge do not foresee traffic tie-ups during the Memorial Day Weekend.
"We're running better now than when we have all three lanes open," said operations director Hubert Willis. "Besides, this is never a big weekend for us. The big weekend is Fourth of July."
Willis said that the paving work is scheduled to be completed June 23, just in time for the upsurge in bridge traffic.
But for those who fret over traffic lines, Willis suggested avoiding the bridge between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. "That's the lunch-hour crowd headed for the Chinese restaurants in Fort Erie or the track, or the bingo games," he said.
