General Motors Corp.'s Chevrolet and GMC truck divisions Thursday extended their incentive programs through July 10 in an effort to boost sliding sales. The GM plans had been set to expire June 5.
The two divisions joined GM's Pontiac Motor Division in tinkering with rebate programs. Pontiac on Wednesday sweetened its incentives on slow-selling small cars.
Chevrolet, in extending its program, added the full-sized Caprice to the plan. The Caprice Brougham will carry a $750 rebate. GM also raised the rebate on the S-10 Blazer sport utility vehicle to $750 from the previous $500.
Chevrolet is offering rebates ranging from $400 to $1,000 as well as financing rates of 2.9 percent on short-term loans to 9.9 percent on five-year loans on a number of cars and trucks.
