Services were held Wednesday in San Antonio, Texas, for William Kuhnle Jr., a Texas highway patrolman formerly from the Buffalo area, who was killed Sunday (May 21, 1989) when he and his partner were hit by a tractor-trailer.
Kuhnle, 36, lived in San Antonio and worked as a highway patrol sergeant for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to information from the department, he graduated from Kensington High School in 1971 and attended classes at D'Youville College and the former Eisenhower College until 1973. He served in the Army from 1974 to 1977. After his service he worked briefly for airport security at Greater Buffalo International Airport, then joined the Texas Highway Patrol as a trainee in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Diana, and three children.
