SCHEME TO BUY BIKES LEADS TO MALL ARREST

A Buffalo man was ordered held on $5,000 bail when he appeared in Clarence Town Court Wednesday after he allegedly attempted to buy some bicycles fraudulently at a Transitown Plaza sports store, state police based at the Clarence Substation said.

Derrick R. Johnson, 23, of 381 South Division St., was arrested by Trooper David Rose on charges of possession of a forged instrument, two counts of criminal impersonation, petit larceny and attempted larceny.

Johnson also was wanted on an outstanding warrant for forgery in the Town of Hamburg, police said.

They said the suspect allegedly used another person's name and credit card information he obtained in a previous job in an attempt to purchase some bicycles.

He was arraigned before Town Justice William Waible who remanded him to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of the bail pending a June 2 hearing.
