Overweight people enjoy sexual satisfaction and seem to be enhancing their sexual relationships, but most feel sexier when they are thinner, a survey reported Tuesday.
Questionnaires printed in Weight Watchers magazine were returned by about 7,500 readers, 97 percent of whom were women between 5 feet, 4 inches and 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighing an average of 166 pounds.
The survey found 86.4 percent of those polled enjoy sex, 81.3 percent are sexually satisfied with their partners and 70.8 percent have satisfying orgasms with their partners.
More than 95 percent said they feel sexier when thinner, and 78.3 percent report that sex is better when they weigh less, the survey said.
More than 60 percent of respondents said they were comfortable expressing their sexual desires and enjoy open communication with their sexual partners.
Single respondents were more outspoken about sexual needs -- 69.5 percent willing to discuss them -- while only 64.6 percent of their married counterparts were comfortable discussing their desires, the survey found.
The poll also found respondents were significantly less likely than the average person to engage in extramarital sex, with 82.7 percent saying they would not consider having an affair.
Past surveys of the general population suggest that 25 to 50 percent of women have at least one extramarital liaison.
