A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard F. Conroy, a former employee of the Erie County Auto Bureau, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, 1395 Hertel Ave. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Kenmore.
Conroy, 65, died Saturday (May 20, 1989) after being stricken at Mary Agnes Manor.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Canisius High School, Bryant & Stratton Business Institute and Canisius College. When he graduated from Canisius College in 1948, he was given the Forgotten Man Award, honoring a student not previously recognized for consistent involvement in school activities. He was a member of the Canisius College and Canisius High School alumni associations.
Conroy served in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II.
He was in the banking and accounting division with the Erie County Auto Bureau before retiring in 1987.
Conroy was a member of the board of directors of the Holy Name and Usher societies at St. Margaret's Church, and was active in Catholic Charities. He belonged to St. Mary of the Angels Aid Society of Williamsville.
He was a member of Catholic War Veterans and Disabled American Veterans.
Conroy also was a member of Retired Public Employees Association of New York State.
He is survived by his brother, William J., of Buffalo.
