A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas S. Winarske Jr., 57, a Buffalo firefighter, will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 157 East St.
Prayers will precede the Mass at 9 in the John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and William streets, City of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
Winarske died Saturday (May 20, 1989) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Town of Tonawanda.
A Buffalo native, he lived in the Town of Tonawanda for 30 years. He was a firefighter with Hook and Ladder Company No. 12 for 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Firefighters Union Local 282; the Buffalo Racing Pigeon Association; Niagara Frontier Post 1041, American Legion, and St. Francis Xavier Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley Ekes; a son, Danny; a daughter, Dorothy Dreibelbis; a sister, Jacqueline Luongo of the Town of Tonawanda, and 14 grandchildren.
