A judge today delayed sentencing former part-time Buffalo teacher's aide Timothy H. Jones until next week, at his attorney's request.
State Supreme Court Justice Mario J. Rossetti adjourned the sentencing from Tuesday to May 31. The move came after attorney John C. Murrett Jr. said Jones, 25, needs more time to prepare for his anticipated imprisonment for sodomizing three boys, ages 12 to 14, between August 1986 and Feb. 25.
Jones pleaded guilty to felony sodomy counts March 23.
Robert J. Tatu, 30, a Buffalo banker and former aide to Mayor Griffin, was indicted in March on sodomy charges involving two boys. Jones and Tatu are long-time friends in South Buffalo. Tatu has pleaded innocent.
The mother of a boy Jones allegedly sodomized in a classroom at South Park High School earlier this year has started legal action against the Buffalo Board of Education.
